Folks may want to think twice before making saints of Charles and Shirley Sherrod.

You don't REALLY expect an intelligent reply to this do you grim? i mean seriously if obama can get away with "Rev" God damn america" for 20 years, why shouldn't Mrs. Sharrod get away with having a husband with the same kind of thinking?

"We must not be afraid to vote black..." -direct quote from video.

Hmm, i thought this didn't happen! I thought this was a MYTH.

"We must not be afraid to vote black..." -direct quote from video.

Jeff, maybe you can tell me what is wrong with that statement? I know, I know. If a White person had said "we must not be afraid to vote white", we'd be all over him. That is what you are going to say, right?

Well, not so fast. What if Blacks controlled the govt and stole elctions. If a white person said it under that context, he'd be trying to state the following:

1. White folks should vote for their own if they believe that candidate can do the job and not just vote for the black pol because he has flashy ads. Or that the White politician cannot hold a seat of power.

2. By turning out in large numbers, it would negate the ability of the Black controlled government from stealing the election.

Under those circumstances, would you say that White speaker was being a racist? Or was he trying to get the other whites to think long and hard about how they vote? Made you think twice didn't it?

So GP, are you saying there has never been any instance of white politicians using the fear of Blacks taking power to turn out white people to the polls? Are you saying those politicians never ran racially charged political ads depicting blacks as violent menaces so as to gin up the fear in the whites?

Also, it is known that there has been actual voter intimidation that takes place in many of these rural southern counties. There has been a long history of it. It's real easy to take the tack that Riehl takes in his blog. As long as you are willing to forget the actual history of black voting in this country, especially in the south.

I'm amazed at the new meme that is circulating now. That is to equate what a black person says when he refers to actual history as being equal to centuries of actual white racism. Well, it may not be much, but I will point out that fallacy every time I see it raise its ugly head.

That is what Charles Sherrod is talking about. He's talking about turning to overt race baiting to get your way in an election. Jesse Helms did it and so have many others. Charles Sherrord isn't even being close to being racist when he said "we have to stop the white man and his uncle toms from stealing elections". He isn't racist because he is speaking the truth - the poeple who steal the lections ar White men and their sympathizers. I personally don't cater to the "uncle tom" term, but I udnerstand why he uses it.

If anyone would like, we can debate what is real racism and what isn't.

Saaaaaaaaaaay... why did Rockin' Dan Riehl edit the tape right there?

What did he NOT want us to see before that bit?

He won't reply, SpoxLogic, because he doesn't have a real answer...

So Grim, you are admitting that the whole tea party movement is racist then? Remember Mark Williams of the Tea Party Express and that now famous "satirical" letter to Abe Lincoln.

But, where do we stop with that "birds of a feather..." line. You could come back and say the NAACP is racist becuase of Sherrod, and I could counter that the GOP is racist because of their acceptance of the Tea Party into the Party (a la Rep Bachmann (MN)).

    And on and on...

What I meant by that statement is you generally don't marry someone who doesn't share your views. Just like you don't sit in a church for 20 years without sharing the views of your pastor.

As usual... Creepy is pretending there is some sort of equivalency at play here in the race issue...

Like an equal number of whites versus blacks, and an equal number of racially motivated incidents on both sides...

Race in this country is a painfully complicated issue and one well worth exploring, and we will find, I suspect 'racism' on both sides of the divide, but NOT in the grotesquely simplified, one-for-one, way Creepy is pushing here.

NOW we're not only racist if we disagree about obama's policies, we're racist if we try and surmise that "birds of a feather, the company you keep, you are who you hang around with etc etc ad nauseum. is that correct spox?

notice i asked, i didn't use my esp powers on you.

Because, i had ZERO problem with that same analogy when it worked for Dems concerning bush, cheney, rumsfield and rove.

oh, but that doesn't count cause they're WHITE, right?

      Grim stated in part:

Nonsense. You choose your spouse in America, but excluding adoption, you don't choose your children

Duh! My response was to the mention of Obam i nJeremiah Wright's church. Your reasoning is that just being in the presence of Wright must mean tha tObama shared his ideals.

      Jeffstated in part:

NOW we're not only racist if we disagree about obama's policies, we're racist if we try and surmise that "birds of a feather, the company you keep, you are who you hang around with etc etc ad nauseum. is that correct spox?

Where in my statement did I accuse anyone of being racist? Nowhere. BTW, when you try to equate some bombastic statements by blacks with the institutionalized white racism that exists, you really insult a lot of people. When white folks start getting hung from trees just for looking askance at a black person, we can start talking about equivalency.

Until then, I won't allow that meme to go unchallenged.

You do know that video was edited, correct?

Ms. Sherrod said she was pressed to resign after the video whipped around the Web. But she said the clip was misleading. According to Ms. Sherrod and people who have seen the full video, she went on to say in her speech that she had learned from working with the farmer that all people must overcome their prejudices.

After seeing the full video, the N.A.A.C.P. said Tuesday that it had been “snookered” into believing Ms. Sherrod had acted with bias.

Actually Grim *most* networks don't slant their news. It is just sad that you are so used to FOX doing it that you assume everyone else does it. Honestly, most network news is pretty unbiased. FOX is the exception, not the rule.
