On September 8, 1966, the world was first introduced to something that has in many ways become a cultural phenomenon -- "Star Trek." Countless phrases (including "beam me up, Scotty") have become a part of television lore, and it has also made careers out of such people as Patrick Stewart, William Shatner, and Leonard Nimoy.
